Current Events

When you present a news story this term, it can be from anywhere in the world, but it must be a significant event that impacts the whole world.  Please select something which is a major news story that complements the topics we study in this course.  If you have to try and justify why it could be an important story, you should choose something else.

There are may news sites, papers and programs that can be used.

I recommend the BBC News World Page or New York Times World Page since they lists stories by regions and if you choose one of the main news stories from the top sections of these pages you can be pretty sure it is the type of major story expected for this assignment.

Some other to try include (these links should take you to the world section for sources based in the US):
AlJazeera America (based in the Middle East and has a different viewpoint on many stories)
RT News (based in the Russia and has a different viewpoint on many stories)

Use Easybib.com or pages 129-130 in your planner to create the MLA citation for your article.
